As everyone at Holby tries to come to terms with the dramatic events of last week, surgeon Mo Effanga is dealing with her own personal turmoil. After deciding a few months back that she wanted to have a baby, Mo made an agreement with close friend, obstetrician Mr Thompson (Ben Hull), that he would act as a sperm donor. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan. Back at square one, this week, Mo still has to choose a sperm donor for baby Effanga but seems unenthusiastic. Mo soon discovers what the realities of motherhood might be like when she treats Amy, a woman with heart palpitations, which Mo reckons have been caused by the stress of running around after her four kids.

Amy refuses to stay in hospital overnight while tests are carried out as her son has a school project due and he needs her help. To get Amy to stay, Mo says she’ll help with the homework – but she’s shocked to discover it involves looking after Hector the Hamster! Mo has a crisis on her hands when Hector goes missing and she has to search all over Holby for him. But it seems the homework has distracted Mo from choosing a sperm donor for her child. After the day’s events, however, Mo decides she might be OK on her own – for now…

Meanwhile, concerned for his colleague, Sacha wonders if Ric is OK as he knows he’s been through a massive trauma recently. Ric insists he’s fine but it seems he’s not yet come to terms with his ordeal…

Also, when tests reveal that Austin Shreve’s liver disease has progressed, Morven takes decisive action to help her father. Boyfriend and medic Arthur, however, is alarmed. Is Morven taking unnecessary risks with her own health?
