Played by Anya Taylor-Joy, Morgan is five years old, looks like a hoodie-wearing teenager and is actually a synthetic human.
A group of fondly proud scientists, including Toby Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Rose Leslie, are raising her at a remote research facility. An alarming incident, however, brings Kate Mara’s risk management consultant to the facility to assess whether the project should continue in this gripping sci-fi thriller.
Yet when the icy, power-dressed corporate troubleshooter goes face-to-face with Morgan, it’s a close call as to which of the two seems the more inhuman.
The strong plot is intriguing, the action is crisp and the strong ensemble of characters make this debut from director Luke Scott, son of Ridley, a rewarding sci-fi venture.
