Everyone at Holby City was stunned when, at the end of last week’s episode, a woman was found badly beaten and left for dead outside the hospital. But no one was more shocked than surgeon Mo Effanga, when it was revealed that the victim was her sister Adele! With Mo too emotionally involved with Adele, who’s still on life support following emergency surgery last week, she’s unable to oversee her care. Mo struggles not to intervene, though, and when Adele’s condition deteriorates, Mo’s locking horns with neurosurgeon Guy Self (John Michie) over the best course of action.

The brain surgery goes well but then Adele is rushed back into theatre with a bleed around her heart. Mo desperately wants to assist with the op but Elliot refuses. However, when a complication occurs in theatre, Mo, watching from the sidelines, decides she just has to get involved to try and save her sister!

Meanwhile, Fletch is racked with guilt knowing that the attack on Adele was the work of the criminal gang that he and porter Clifford had become involved with. Fletch begs Clifford to call the police, anonymously, giving a name – but Clifford thinks they should keep quiet. Then, fearing the gang will now come after his kids, Fletch warns Clifford: sort out this mess or I will! Later, Clifford decides to leave Holby without anyone knowing, telling Fletch he’s struck a deal with the gang to ensure he won’t be bothered any more. As Clifford sneaks away, it’s anyone’s guess whether we’ll see him again…

Also, Arthur has his hands full with a demanding patient; sexy and very forward cougar Sian, who takes a shine to him. When Sian refuses to take her health seriously, Arthur finds her impossible to treat and starts to lose his cool, much to the disappointment of Morven who gets both barrels!
