There’s no denying Mark Addy makes a great grumpy detective – and in this second episode of Anthony Horowitz’s fast-paced, suspenseful drama, his DS Sands has plenty more opportunities to be irritated and exasperated by his new young sidekick, trainee detective Rash Sayyad. What’s particularly annoying for Sands this week is that Rash seems to have worked out an interesting connection between the three deaths they’re investigating. ‘Nobody likes someone who’s right all the time,’ huffs Sands.
