Lauren Laverne presents the fourth in the series looking at pop music through the memorabilia of the fans.

And there’s an awful lot to pack into 60 minutes, as Lauren takes us from the early 1980s, when Depeche Mode were making the transition from wholesome pop idols to the lords of doom they later became, right up to the era of Oasis and the Spice Girls in the late 1990s.

There’s a too-brief nod to the British hip-hop scene and a look at the huge impact of rave culture, before a reminder of Take That in their early days, when they were being marketed two separate ways – to schoolgirls and gay men. Phew.
