Housebound with a broken leg, bored photographer James Stewart spies on his neighbours.

It’s not long before he gets to thinking that Raymond Burr has done away with his wife.

Besides the mounting, nail-biting suspense, this incredibly tense thriller classic boasts prime performances from Stewart, Grace Kelly as his girlfriend and Thelma Ritter as his nurse.

For one of his best movies, Alfred Hitchcock was deservedly nominated for a Best Director Oscar, one of four nominations. His meticulously designed, humour-soaked thriller cleverly stays inside Stewart’s apartment and shares his point of view for almost all its length, in effect turning the audience into a set of Peeping Toms as well.

Spot Hitchcock’s traditional cameo appearance after about half an hour, winding the clock in the songwriter’s apartment.
