A hapless koala bear impresario (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) puts on a singing competition to save his failing theatre, but offers far more in prize money than he can afford.

Though not that inventive, the movie’s breezy good humour is infectious and the classy voice cast add considerable pep to their characters.

Reese Witherspoon is a singing pig housewife, Seth MacFarlane an ultra-smooth but ruthlessly self-centred mouse, Scarlett Johansson is appropriately spiky as a punky teenage porcupine, Taron Egerton is particularly sweet as a Cockney gorilla and Tori Kelly brings the house down as a shy elephant with a jumbo-sized voice.
