Strictly Come Dancing – BBC1

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host the next stage of the dance contest, as the 13 remaining couples take to the floor to impress the judges and avoid elimination

Only the best will do as the judges’ scrutiny notches up a gear.

After the razzle dazzle of Movie Week, there’ll be no specific theme this evening – just the unadulterated glitz
of classic ballroom and Latin routines.

With Susannah Constantine eliminated early and no stumbling politician on the dance floor, we’re missing an obvious fall guy this year, so the couples will need to prise
as many points as they can from the judges to avoid the dreaded dance-off.

Hopefully, Craig has put his beloved ‘1’ paddle away! We’re really enjoying watching This Morning’s Dr Ranj light up
the ballroom, and we think there’s lots more still to come from him if he can keep up
the training alongside his
work in A&E.

TV Times caught up with Charles Venn during a break in rehearsals.

Dance pro Karen Clifton with her celebrity dance partner Charles Venn

As well as tripping the light fantastic on Strictly with professional partner Karen Clifton, he’s also playing nurse Jacob Masters in BBC1’s hit medical drama Casualty.

‘Mr Saturday Night? I’ll take
that moniker!’ laughs Charles, 45, when TV Times playfully suggests he’s been taking over our screens
on that evening.

‘I’m still filming Casualty while doing Strictly but luckily not doing as many days; they’ve been kind
to me. I’m living the dream!’

Charles as Jacob Masters in Casualty

‘Dance steps are trickier
to learn than the medical jargon I need for Casualty.

‘I’m a Nigerian boy and, in our household, moving your hips was essential when it came
to parties.

is the polar opposite. It’s almost like learning to walk again,’ he explains.

‘Karen always tells me about my frame and being economical with foot placement.’
