Reprising his stage role, a hilarious Nathan Lane heads the cast of this adaptation of Mel Brooks’ hit Broadway show, based on his 1967 film.
And it’s an exuberant delight.
Lane is a theatre producer who figures that he can make more money from a show that flops and running off with his backers’ cash than he can from a hit.
So, with a little help from mild-mannered accountant Matthew Broderick, the search is on to find the worst ever musical script. Neo-Nazi crackpot Will Ferrell obliges and the result is Springtime for Hitler!
Bright, garish and in hilariously bad taste, this is very funny and the songs, choreography and performances – Uma Thurman also stars – leap off the screen.
This film is showing at 12.10am on BBC1 Northern Ireland and Wales.
