The aftermath of the bomb outrage is devastating for all concerned and, as the full horror sinks in for Winnie, Vicky McClure is mesmerising in her depiction of quiet, cold anger. Winnie’s self-pitying husband Verloc fails to grasp the full magnitude of what he has done and blames everyone but himself. After confronting him, Winnie flees and finds Tom Ossipon, believing they can run away together, but he is uneasy about Winnie’s state of mind. Meanwhile, Heat is told to arrest Verloc, leaving the usually cool Russian First Secretary Vladimir rattled as he worries what his spy might say under questioning.
