Beware of car boot sale bargains! If punter Paul Brewer is to be believed, you can pick up all sorts of nasty bits and pieces – including laptops that contain images of child pornography. That’s what he tells DS Max Carter and DC Jo Masters, when his computer ends up in their hands. But he’s not very bright – and they are.

A quick check reveals that the images were downloaded after Paul bought the computer. So it’s time for story number two: he lent the laptop to former cellmate George Fielding (Jeff Rawle – Amos Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), a convicted paedophile. DC Jacob ‘Banksy’ Banks goes to check this version and George confirms it. That wouldn’t be surprising except George had been making real efforts to stay away from children.

Banksy investigates a little more and discovers that George is lying, too, though. The images of the little girl weren’t taken from the internet, they’re from a camera – and were taken recently.

Now the officers have to quickly find out who the little girl is as someone could still be abusing her. Max traces her parents, who tell him the little girl’s uncle was caring for her on the day the photos were taken – and he’s stunned when he realises who the uncle is…
