There was nothing dignified about the way Carl lived his life… He killed, he lied, he cheated, he blackmailed. He thought he could get away with anything; that’s why he was convinced Cameron wouldn’t kill him and that’s what he told Cameron – just before Cameron cracked him on the head with a brick and killed him. So it’s fitting, really, that’s there’s nothing dignified about Carl’s funeral. It starts off solemn enough, as the hearse rolls through the village, followed by Jimmy, Anya, Nicola, Scarlett, Thomas and Edna. But once inside the church Thomas can’t take any more and stands up to tell everyone about the man Carl really was. Not a man to be mourned, but a man to be loathed…

Chas knows better than anyone about the man Carl really was. She’s sitting in prison convinced she killed him when he tried to rape her. Lisa visits Chas and finds a broken woman who is scared of what the future holds and desperate for cowardly Cameron to be safe from Cain. Oh, if only Chas knew…

Rachel doesn’t know that she’s babysitting Jacob because David wants time alone with Priya. Rachel thinks David’s going to Jimmy’s funeral – and that’s where he ends up having to go thanks to Jacob!

*Second episode*

Thomas has run out of the funeral service and disappeared. Still, there’s a hole in the ground in the cemetery and it has to be filled. So Jimmy decides to go ahead and bury Carl. Meanwhile, Edna has found Thomas and points out that he will regret not saying goodbye to his father. So Thomas joins the mourners at the graveyard and sees his father buried. Sadly, the bad feelings aren’t buried with Carl. Jimmy blames himself for everything that has gone wrong, but the real culprit is at Carl’s grave: cowardly Cameron… And Thomas and Anya are surprised to see Cameron there when they return to the cemetery to say a private goodbye to their father.

Cain wouldn’t have been surprised to see Cameron at Carl’s grave. But he would have been tempted to push Cameron into the hole. Everyone’s worried about what Cain might do to Cameron, so Zak talks to his son, warning him not to do anything that would cause Debbie more grief. Cain knows Zak’s talking sense but it doesn’t make him feel any better – and Moira sees that.

Dan decides to throw himself a party to make himself feel better and is determined to get drunk. But people do silly things when they’re drunk…
