New three-part drama telling the grim story of the Rochdale abuse scandal
This powerful series is based on the harrowing true stories of victims of the grooming and sexual abuse scandal in Rochdale between 2008 and 2012, for which nine men were convicted and sentenced.
A sensitive script by Nicole Taylor (The C Word) tells the story of how three girls (beautifully played by Molly Windsor, Mr Selfridge’s Ria Zmitrowicz and Liv Hill) were groomed, and how their plight was ignored by the authorities.
Maxine Peake and Lesley Sharp give tour de force performances as two women instrumental in getting the girls’ voices heard. A gritty but important watch.
Continues tomorrow and Thursday.
