The Aidensfield Arms is preparing for the wedding reception of pop princess Cathy Dee and her manager Stan Sparrow. When Stan gives a speech, he mentions his new autobiography and says he plans to donate money to local children’s charities asking that his best man, Russell Bryant, accept the cheque on behalf of Ashfordly Council.

The next morning, Cathy and Blaketon are horrified to find Stan dead in his room. Cathy mentions that Stan was suffering from leukaemia, but evidence suggests that Stan may not have died of natural causes. Can Joe find Stan’s killer – and will there be any clues in his autobiography?

Pc Younger is dubious when a young boy, Ben, reports a crime at a jewellers that hasn’t yet been committed, but then states that known thief, Eddie Frost, has visited the jewellers four times that week. As the pair watch a car speed off and find evidence of a robbery, Ben hands Younger a piece of paper with the registration number on and then flees. Wondering who the young lad is, Younger is shocked to discover he’s Pc Wetherby’s son…
