In Disney’s slick sequel to 1982’s ground-breaking Tron, Garrett Hedlund is pulled into a virtual reality world. He’s the son of Jeff Bridges’ character, who has been trapped for 20 years in a tyrannical computer world ruled by a cyber version of his younger self.
This sequel is hampered by its repetitive story and Hedlund’s lacklustre character. But then, the special effects, set to a throbbing score by French duo Daft Punk, are state of the art, enabling Bridges to play three versions of his character and giving the chase and action scenes lots of polish and panache.
