A star-studded and lavish new re-telling of the mythic story.
This version of the story of Troy is definitely channelling Game of Thrones – lots of sex, violent deaths and mystical beings.
It ends, of course, with the famous deception of the wooden horse, but it’s how the characters get to that point that will keep viewers enthralled.
As we begin, Paris (an excellent Louis Hunter) returns to Troy after having been taken from his royal parents (David Threlfall and Frances O’Connor) as a baby.
But Paris is soon causing them grief after stealing the King of Sparta’s beautiful wife, Helen, while on a diplomatic trip…
The story may be ancient but the characters are compelling, and it’s far better than the 2004 Brad Pitt movie.
