It’s 32 years since Mr and Mrs Griswold (Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo) took their family on holiday in National Lampoon’s Vacation.

Now their grown-up son, Rusty (Ed Helms), is determined to take his own family (wife Christina Applegate and quarrelling boys Skyler Gisondo and bullying younger brother Steele Stebbins) to Walley World theme park – with similarly hysterically disastrous results.

The cast – which also includes Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann and cameos from Chase and D’Angelo – make the most of the steady stream of gags, which include a priceless gross-out bathing experience and many jokes at the expense of their hopeless car, a clunky, gas-guzzling minivan with a sat nav that barks out angry orders in Korean.
