James McAvoy’s Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe’s Igor play things to the hilt in this new take on Mary Shelley’s legendary tale.

Transplanted  to mid-19th-century London, the story features enjoyably ripe performances from the stars, as the maniacal scientist obsessed with creating life and his (initially) hunchbacked assistant.

Though the film fails to pull off the knockabout, lovingly irreverent spirit it is aiming for, the stars are always worth watching and it looks suitably plush.
