The Voice Kids – ITV

The last six spaces in the semi-finals of The Voice Kids are up for grabs, with youngsters aged seven to 14 given a chance at stardom...

The battle rounds kicked off last week, with coaches Jessie J, Pixie Lott, Danny Jones and will.i.am beginning the process of choosing which singers they want in their teams
of three for next week’s semi-final.

Danny and Will have two spots still
to fill, while Jessie and Pixie need one more singer each.

Which pint-sized pop stars will stand out?

As the battle rounds conclude this week, we go behind the scenes of the singing contest

Jessie’s Throne

Jessie J made her debut as the show’s fourth mentor this year, and her spinning red chair is in the same spot as when she was a coach on the very first series of its big sister show The Voice UK – right next to will.i.am.

Comic relief

This year’s youngest contestant, seven-year-old Peyton, is also a talented comic-
book artist. At her blind audition, she gave will.i.am a comic she’d made just for him.

Nervous parents

When it comes to each performance, it’s not the kids who are anxious! ‘The parents are the ones that tend to have a wobble,’ says host Emma Willis. ‘The kids
are just having the time of their lives!’

Wardrobe woes

Danny Jones is the coach who frets the most about fashion. ‘The most stressful thing is worrying about what I’m going to
wear,’ he says. ‘I’m not a person who packs the night before – I have to decide on the day!’

A Brilliant band

The show wouldn’t be the same without David Tench and his amazing band. Between them, they’ve worked with artists including Kylie, Take That, Adele, Little Mix, Westlife and Bryan Adams.

Kids v adults

As a coach on this show and The Voice UK, will.i.am is always asked which one he prefers. ‘I had doubts about doing this show at first as I didn’t wanna break a kid’s heart,’ he says. ‘But last year I thought, “I like this show more than the adult version!”’
