Julianne Moore and Steve Coogan play a pair of selfish and irresponsible parents whose bitter divorce is seen through the eyes of their trusting six-year-old daughter (Onata Aprile).

This superb updating of Henry James’ classic 19th-century novel is boosted by outstanding acting from Moore and Coogan, as well as Alexander Skarsgård and Joanna Vanderham as the warring couple’s much younger new spouses.

However, it’s Aprile’s remarkable turn that holds the film together.
