The Our Girl star is the first famous face to track down her family past as the genealogy series returns for a new eight-part series.
Michelle Keegan has played some strong women in her time so she’s thrilled to find several more in her family tree in this special edition of the popular show, which marks the centenary of women getting the vote.
The actress is delighted to discover that her great-great-grandmother Elizabeth Kirwan was a suffragette and that Emmeline Pankhurst was the registrar on the birth certificate of Elizabeth’s daughter.
Michelle Keegan’s maternal grandparents, Mary Elizabeth Wiltshire and Brian Joseph Turner Michelle also uncovers her roots in Gibraltar and how her great-grandmother Leonor and children were evacuated from there to London during World War Two.
