Ruby Wax was born and raised in America, but came to the UK to escape her warring parents – volatile dad Edmund and ‘hysterical’ mum Berta.
The Jewish couple fled Vienna after the Nazi invasion in 1939, but Ruby knows little about their life before they moved to the States.
But a few years ago, Ruby found a suitcase filled with photos and letters, the starting point to learning more about her parents.
As she looks into her family’s past, all roads lead to the Holocaust so it’s not an easy watch. As Ruby says: ‘If I wasn’t on medication, this would have flipped me out.’
