Howard bounces into work, excited about implementing the 360 feedback process where each staff member is appraised by a senior colleague. He faces overwhelming resistance at a staff meeting but soldiers on with determination and comes down hard when he overhears staff colluding to fix the results. As squabbles over the process begin to interfere with work he starts to lose faith.
When Emma asks if she can take part, Howard says they need to cut their locum spending and asks is it time she moved on? Emma panics; she needs the stability of The Mill and being close to Chris, can they make it work? Howard is resolute but then Emma tells him about Dave’s recent attempt to rape her. Howard’s horrified and accepts she’s been dealing with a lot and needs to stay. Emma leaves, wiping away tears and Howard tries to get back to work.
Meanwhile, feeling short and frumpy, Zara resolves to get back into her high heels but is not counting on Mandy and then Daniel suggesting she’s being foolish – she’s snaps back and Daniel apologises. He offers her a leg massage which she enjoys until he gets carried away and she kicks him out. Later, Zara puts the heels back on and sexily struts into his office – only to remove them and limp back to her office once she leaves.
Also, Karen has an eventful day when a surly teenage girl arrives in Letherbridge on a mission and finds herself at the Campus Surgery.
