Today’s the day Zara will interview Mrs Tembe and Karen. She gives them both a task to complete and tells the others to treat them just as though they were Julia. As Zara interviews them both she’s surprised at the dirty tactics deployed as each bad mouths the other. But when they both find their practice tasks difficult they begin to think twice about whether they actually want the job.
Both of them return to Zara to extol the virtues of the other candidate. At the end of the day Zara weighs up their tasks and interviews, but when she can’t get through to Daniel or Heston to help her make the decision, she decides simply to toss a coin. She reveals the good news to Mrs Tembe, but conversely it’s Karen who whoops with delight, while Mrs Tembe merely feels an overwhelming sense of dread.
Cherry gives Jimmi a running schedule, wanting them to start with a couple of miles this evening. Jimmi is hesitant, but when Cherry tells him they need it he feels backed into a corner. Later at the Icon, he meets Daniel and they discuss how much life has changed recently.
When Jimmi asks directly if Daniel and Zara have trouble keeping the spark alive, neither of them can bear to admit to any sign of problems. As they prepare to go home, each of them tries to open up to the other about how difficult they’re finding things but bottle it at the last minute. They part, both taking their troubles away with them, unsolved and unspoken.
Also, Freya helps old friends to see there is still a spark between them.
