Hollyoaks‘ Alex Carter will make his big comeback to the soap via a new online spin-off series.
Hollyoaks Freshers, a six-part series of 10-minute episodes, will launch on the internet next month.
Former Emmerdale star Alex films his comeback scenes as Lee Hunter on the show, which features new Community College students Jamil, Doug and Leanne played by Sikander Malik, PJ Brennan and Jessica Forrest.
The programme will follow the three new character’s summer adventures – including a trip to a music festival – introducing them to fans before they join the regular cast of the Channel 4 show.
Regulars Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson), Charlotte Lau (Amy Yamazaki) and Dave Colburn (Elliot James Langridge) will also appear in the online show.
As well as the episodes, fans will be able to view blogs, Facebook pages and Flickr photograph accounts for each of the new characters, following what they’re getting up to in between shows and interacting with them.
The series will begin on August 26, with episodes being uploaded every Thursday and Friday for three weeks.
The show will also be aired as a one-hour special on E4 in the autumn.
Hollyoaks previously created an online spin-off called The Morning After The Night Before, which aired last summer about the issue of binge drinking.
