Gemma’s excited about return of Hollyoaks’ Clare

Gemma Bissix has revealed she’s ‘excited’ about returning to Hollyoaks after a two-year absence.

The 25-year-old actress is reprising the role of Clare Devine, and said: “It’s exciting stuff to come back and play Clare.”

She went on: “I don’t think I’ve ever found a character like her – there’s no limit as far as she’s concerned and in these episodes in particular she’s come back slightly unhinged and there isn’t much that gets in her way and that’s what I think is so exciting.”

Gemma first appeared in the soap in 2006 and became a firm favourite with fans as her character became one of the most malicious in the show’s history. She left Hollyoaks in 2007, and her climactic exit scenes saw her lose control of her car while being pursued by then husband Max Cunningham (Matt Littler) and ex-lover Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and plunge into a 50ft-deep quarry.

Gemma will return sometime in May.
