Hollyoaks star Beth Kingston has revealed she will miss the show – but is happy to leave before she becomes typecast.
The actress joined the cast last year as India Longford after winning a competition run by the show – but is due to bow out in a dramatic storyline involving a man she meets on a dating website.
“I will miss it definitely,” Beth said. I’ve had the best year and a half. When I first started, I thought a year and a half would be the perfect amount of time to be in soap.
“You get the experience but it’s not long enough to get typecast as that one character. I’m just excited about the future now.”
She added that she was also pleased to be involved in a storyline that warned people about the perils of online dating.
“I found it exciting doing such a big storyline which obviously has so much relevance to today, it’s a very topical subject,” the actress said.
“It’s a really big danger. Maybe at Christmas people who are feeling alone might be more inclined to go on them but you’ve got to be so so careful.”
Beth – who has been in a relationship for five years – admitted she had never tried online dating herself, but said, “I know a few people that have and it’s been successful so you don’t want to scare people completely but it’s just about being cautious.”
