Twinnie-Lee, who has been nominated in the Best Newcomer category in the British Soap Awards, told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’ve just signed a long-term contract and I’m really pleased to be staying. I’m genuinely loving it. It’s mental all the time but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Porsche is at the centre of Hollyoaks’ hard-hitting sexual abuse storyline, which has already revealed that she was abused by her mother Reenie’s (Zoe Lucker) boyfriend when she was 15.
“Hollyoaks tackles issue after issue, which it’s always done so well. It’s what the soap’s known for,” says Twinnie-Lee.
“It has been really tough. As a woman it’s heartbreaking. It makes you think how lucky you are to have had a normal childhood.
“I’ve got friends who have been through it so it’s very close to home for me. My wish with this storyline is to raise awareness and try to make a difference.”
Hollyoaks continues on C4, Monday, May 4, 6.30pm.
