Home & Away star ‘slows it down’ after health scare

Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo has admitted he needs to slow down after being rushed to hospital with appendicitis.

The actor, who plays Chris Harrington in Channel 5’s Home and Away, came down with a severe case of appendicitis in June and told TV Week how the ordeal had changed him.

He said: “The doctor told me that I need to start looking after myself by eating right and sleeping properly. I’m driven. I just want to work.

“The doctor gave me a grilling for pushing myself too hard. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for most of my life – my mum has worried about it since I was young. I have a strong work ethic, but I don’t want to compromise my health.

“This health scare has made me want to slow things down a bit, because I was out of action for four days. I don’t want to get sick again and stuck in a cycle.”

Johnny also juggles his Home and Away work with a music career – he was a finalist on series three of Australian X Factor in 2011.
