Australian soap Home And Away has been hit by two scandals, involving drugs and a sexually explicit video, according to the papers.
The Sun reports that actress Jodi Gordon – who plays Martha McKenzie on the soap, shown on Five in the UK – told police that ‘cocaine had been consumed’ after they were called to a suspected break in at a gang member’s home.
And actor Lincoln Lewis – who plays Geoff Campbell – has also run into trouble after showing cast members an explicit video of him with a teenage girl, taken on his mobile phone.
The first incident occurred after Jodi’s boyfriend, Ryan Stokes, reported her missing.
Hours later she was found cowering with the gang member in the bedroom of his Sydney home, where he claimed that he had called police screaming that five gunmen were about to break into his house.
However, police could find no evidence of a break-in and he admitted he ‘might have been hallucinating’ after taking a sleeping pill.
Jodie then told police that drugs had been taken during the day. She was later released without charge.
“I can’t believe she’d ever get into drugs,” her father, Ray Gordon, said.
Lewis, meanwhile, has been disciplined by show bosses after cast members said he had shown them a video of him with an 18-year-old girl, an unnamed Australian TV star.
The actor, who made the film last year, said, “You do stupid things when you’re young. But you learn from your mistakes, that’s part of growing up.”
