Bugner out of ‘Celebrity’ after losing jungle task

Joe Bugner has become the latest person to get the boot from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle after losing the ‘jungle jail’ challenge to Stuart Manning.

Both Manning and Bugner learned on Saturday night’s show that one of them would be leaving camp after receiving the lowest number of public votes.

However the result was decided after the pair were taken to ‘jungle jail’ and given the tricky task of escaping from the cell.

Manning – who admitted he had been feeling “lost” in recent days, was convinced he would lose the task, while Bugner suggested that the actor might struggle with the challenge.

“I can’t see it as being a strength task,” he said, “I might be at an advantage.”

However Manning outwitted the veteran boxer, who departed camp straight away without having a chance to say goodbye.

Afterwards the Hollyoaks star expressed his surprise at having triumphed. “I honestly thought I was going today,” he said. “I was up against the former heavyweight champion of the world and I thought this is it, I’m a goner. But I’m really glad I won it.”

Bugner, meanwhile, said he wasn’t disappointed to have lost to Manning.

“I got to know him over the past few days,” he told Ant and Dec, “and I got to like him very much – he seemed to have this determination but he wasn’t exuberant about it. So when we had our last confrontation I was so happy for him.”

And he admitted to a love/hate relationship with fellow camper Kim.

“I love her but she can talk and talk, she drove me mad,” he said. “As sweet as she is, I wouldn’t want to be married to her.”

Nobody was evicted from camp on Sunday, with the next eviction due on Monday night.
