According to The Sun, the ex-Dollar singer is apparently leading the voting ‘by a country mile’, despite ex-EastEnders star Joe Swash being the bookies’ clear favourite.
David, 53, might have upset most of his fellow campers, but he’s proving to be a hit with ITV1’s 10 million viewers.
A source said: “David is far ahead of everyone in the voting. He has been getting lots of votes since he arrived and they have been increasing steadily. Lots of people have assumed the jungle crown is Joe’s but at the moment that is not the case.”
Glamour girl Nicola McLean, who was voted off the show last night, branded David a “vile creature”.
She told hosts Ant and Dec: “I’m excited to be out – but gutted I didn’t outlast David, what were the public thinking?”
In other Celebrity news, ousted camper Carly Zucker has apparently demanded to leave Australia because she misses her footballer fiance Joe Cole – but bosses insist she must stay until the end of the show.
Carly has been staying in an apartment in the six-star Palazzo Versace since being voted out of the jungle, and she has been told she must stay there until the show ends on Friday.
Carly told The Mirror: “I’ve had enough. I don’t want to be here any more. I just want to go home. Joe has been ringing me every day saying he wants me back. I miss him so much. I wish I could just get on a plane today.”
Last year, Marc Bannerman flew back early to try to save his relationship with Sarah Matravers after his jungle romance with fellow camper Cerys Matthews, and in 2006 Faith Brown went home before the finale as her husband was having an op.
