Mel Sykes upset The X Factor star Jake Quickenden by asking him to stop singing, saying ‘it just gets on my nerves’.

The exchange occurred after Jake and Jimmy Bullard had performed an impromptu Michael Jackson medley on Thursday’s show.

Melanie told him: “You’ve got such a nice voice, but sometimes it just gets on my nerves. Soz. I’m not being spiteful.”

Jake looked hurt and retired to a quiet part of the camp, but he told Jimmy and Carl Fogarty: “It’s no biggie…I don’t want to bitch about her but if I am annoying someone then say it to my face.”

Later, Mel added: “They were right in my earful and I said to Foggy that I could do without the singing and Jake took offence.”

In the Bush Telegraph, Jake said: “I’m learning about things in here and people deal with things differently and you have to curb yourself to make other people feel at ease. I’m always singing at home, I’m always singing in here. Probably my singing is annoying because I didn’t last very long on The X Factor, did I?”

Jimmy wound him up further by telling him he’d go in for The X Factor next year and probably do better than Jake.

Mel did try to alleviate the dark mood by telling him: ”Oh Jake your Michael Jackson medley was getting on my tits, it was the pair of you, so don’t be sensitive about your voice, it’s beautiful.”

Jimmy added: “Why are you getting all sensitive, it’s only Syksey?”

“I’ve come in here with half a ****ing talent and I’m not even allowed to do it,” moaned Jake.
