The next series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here could be a ‘cut-price’ version featuring minor stars, according to the papers.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the likes of ‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman, Amy Winehouse‘s dad Mitch and former Crystal Palace boss Simon Jordan are being approached to take part, after show bosses cut the budget for celebrities from £850,000 to £250,000.

The total budget is less than £100,000 than ITV paid Katie Price alone to appear on the 2009 series of the show.

And it means that celebs will pocket around £20,000 each for appearing – which could prove off-putting to bigger name stars.

ITV plans instead to spend the money on a high-definition version of the show, which will return to screens in November.

“With the move into HD, the cupboard is bare and talent bookers have to think out of the box,” an insider told the paper. “They are focusing on less bankable stars, and stars’ relations or ex-lovers.

“In previous years money has been thrown at big names but all too often it’s been the minor celebs like last year’s winner Gino D’Acampo who have proved the ratings winners.”
