BBC broadcaster Michael Buerk has revealed there is ‘no problem with nudity’ on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 69-year-old was a contestant on the reality series in 2014.

Writing in this week’s Radio Times, he opened up about being told the jungle rules and the behaviour that was banned for being ‘inappropriate’ by ITV.

The list, as relayed by the show’s executive producer Becca Walker, included: “bullying, ‘non-consensual touching’, masturbation (she seemed particularly concerned about that), homophobic language or attitudes and ‘category A’ swear words (which include the F-word and the C-word).”

However, he said the conversation of several contestants consisted of little else but swearing.

He continued: “It was all rather odd because it was made clear that there was ‘no problem’ with nudity (‘in a non-sexual context’), sexual behaviour ‘that is reciprocated’, and rudeness.”

But the former newsreader noted: “The one thing they were adamant about was harming the wildlife: ‘You could be prosecuted’.”

During his time on the show, Michael lived in the camp alongside singer Nadia Forde, presenter Melanie Sykes, World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty and politician Edwina Currie.

American reality star Kendra Wilkinson, X Factor’s Jake Quickenden and ‘Allo ‘Allo! actress Vicki Michelle also featured, but Michael struck up an unlikely friendship with rapper Tinchy Stryder.

Their bromance led to the bizarre sight of the BBC man performing a rap about his ‘campmates’ in front of millions of viewers.

“Michael’s my name and I’m real cool, stuck in the jungle feeling like a fool, pants are red, got no bed, jungle skills never learned at school. Banged up here with the lord of misrule jumping up and down heading for a fall.

“Queen of the bowls is mistress Melanie, food from heaven, but it’s not heavenly. Tarzan’s twin that’s Carl Fogarty, swinging through the hills but they ain’t Beverley. We’d kill for curry, but we don’t mean ‘dwina. We quite like Kendra, but she could be cleaner.

“Too many singers to point the finger, Tinch, Jake, Nadia who could be meaner? What about Queen Vicki, man that would be tricky in the jungle.”

The music star and the Moral Maze presenter’s bond made good television, but it did not last as long as some had hoped.

The broadcaster was the third celebrity eliminated in the public vote.

Ahead of the latest series, which starts on Sunday and will be presented by Ant and Dec, he also revealed, “Nobody knew who Edwina Currie was when she arrived among us.”

Despite being one half of ‘one of the most jaw-dropping, illicit love affairs of the 20th century,’ he wrote.

Michael also said they probably wouldn’t be able to name John Major as the other half, even though he had been prime minister.
