TV presenting duo Ant and Dec have made the shock revelation that they would consider splitting up their partnership – in order to pursue acting roles.

Speaking to The Sun ahead of the start of a new series of game show Push The Button, Ant admitted that they would think about going it alone if one were offered an acting role that they loved.

“If there was something we were really passionate about we would look at it,” he said.

“I know people might think it’s odd and obviously that’s something we would have to think about, whether it was right to do that.”

“We are actors and we love doing it,” Dec added. “Finding the time is the only thing that gets in the way as we have so much other stuff on.

“But we’re looking at stuff and something will happen, I’m sure of that.”

The pair first found fame in the children’s TV show Byker Grove, and also starred in the remake of The Likely Lads and the film Alien Autopsy in 2006.

“We would both love to do some more acting,” Ant admitted. It’s where we came from after all.”

“We’ve been getting offered lots of bits and bobs and we’re very interested in them – both TV and films. Some would surprise you because they’ve been on ITV fairly recently.”

The pair were last seen fronting the 2010 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and have also recently finished filming the auditions for the next series of Britain’s Got Talent – which features new judges Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff – but confessed that they missed having Simon Cowell on the show.

The mogul has pulled out of the auditions round of the series this year but will return for the live semi-finals.

“Hoff does a great job but isn’t Simon or Piers,” Ant admitted. You miss Simon because he is the best judge. He has that ability to say what you at home are thinking.”
