Creepy Teruyuki Kagawa Hidetoshi Nishijima Yûko Takeuchi

That man isn’t my father, he is a total stranger.

An ex-police detective turned university professor, the hero of acutely unnerving Japanese crime thriller Creepy (Kurîpî: Itsuwari no rinjin) is an expert in the psychology of serial killers. Which gives us a clue that something nasty is going to turn up when he begins unofficially digging into a long-cold missing persons case, while his stay-at-home wife makes friendly overtures to their socially awkward new neighbour. Director Kiyoshi Kurosawa is a master of slow-build suspense, and he sinks his hooks with unobtrusive skill until he has us wriggling with unease.
