What if you had only five days to figure out… everything.
Anna ‘Duckface’ Chancellor reunites with her Four Weddings and a Funeral co-stars John Hannah and James Fleet for Love of My Life, a mildly engaging comedy drama about a woman whose discovery she possibly only has five days to live doesn’t exactly bring out the best in her nearest and dearest.
Chancellor’s expat Toronto architect Grace is surprisingly phlegmatic when she learns she has a brain tumour. But second husband Tom (Fleet) proves something of a drip, while her feckless charmer of an ex, Hannah’s prize-winning novelist Richard, hopes to woo her all over again. On the sidelines, Hermione Norris pops up as Richard’s vampy current wife, and so does Greg Wise as Grace’s suave work colleague.
Chancellor is majestic in the lead, but the so-so script isn’t worthy of her and it’s never clear why – given the plethora of Brits in the cast – all this should be taking place in Canada rather than London or the home counties.
