Sleepless | Jamie Foxx’s devious Las Vegas cop is up all night in this relentless crime thriller

Sleepless Jamie Foxx

Don’t judge a cop by his cover.

Jamie Foxx plays a devious Las Vegas police officer trying to evade fellow cops and crooks alike in Sleepless, a remake of the 2011 French thriller Sleepless Night (Nuit blanche).

In the course of a frantic single day and night, Foxx’s Vincent gets on the wrong side of Michelle Monaghan’s dogged Internal Affairs investigator, Dermot Mulroney’s crooked casino owner and Scoot McNairy’s psychopathic mobster, not to mention countless other thugs and heavies. He is stabbed and shot at, and his 16-year-old son (Octavius J Johnson) gets kidnapped, while a 25-kilo stash of cocaine goes in and out of hiding in ventilation shafts and lockers.

Of course, you’ll probably spot most of the twists coming. But the film’s relentless pace ensures the excitement rarely flags.

Certificate 15. Runtime 95 mins. Director Baran do Odar

Sleepless available on Blu-ray, DVD & Download from Monday 112 September from Entertainment One.
