Ashleigh has played Kate for five years in the Australian series, but told Digital Spy that she had decided to quit the part to pursue other projects.
She said: “Having now been on Neighbours for over five years, I really feel like I’ve done my character justice and the time is right to close this chapter and open the next exciting one.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the time I’ve spent on Neighbours and now I’m ready to challenge myself in new and different ways. I also want to do more travelling, something I haven’t been able to do.”
It hasn’t yet been revealed what her exit storyline will be, but Kate is set for stressful times ahead when her one-night stand with Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan) is revealed and her on-off boyfriend Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor) returns to Neighbours.
Ashleigh was cast in 2009 alongside Will Moore and Kaiya Jones, who played her siblings Harry and Sophie, and the trio’s arrival marked the Ramsays’ first return to Neighbours in over a decade.
