Neighbours’ Karl Kennedy finds himself in an awkward situation when ex-wife Susan’s sister Carmel Tyler sets her sights on him.

Kirsty Child is returning to Ramsay Street for a two-month guest appearance, and revealed to TV Week that the recently separated Carmel is looking for love.

Kirsty revealed: “Carmel just breezes in and thinks she’ll come and stay with Susan to start a new life in Erinsborough. She gives Susan a little bit of a shock, and not an entirely pleasant one!

“Carmel is very outgoing and I don’t think she’s entirely sensitive to the feelings of others. She’s also very keen to find a man and wants Susan to join her on a manhunt.”

Carmel persuades Susan (Jackie Woodburne) to come on a speed-dating night with her and when she spots Karl (Alan Fletcher) she takes a fancy to him.

Kirsty said: “She thinks, ‘Well, Karl is a very eligible man with everything a woman could desire’. Karl, being a very friendly person and quite naive in a way, doesn’t realise Carmel is interested in him at this point.”

And with her sister chasing after her ex, Susan could find her own feelings for Karl reignited.

Earlier this year, Neighbours bosses revealed that Carmel and Susan would ‘both fall for the same man’.

The scenes will screen on Channel 5 in December.
