Tracy-Ann Oberman is the latest ex EastEnders star to join the cast of New Tricks and will be helping the popular series go out with a bang.

Tracy-Ann joins the final series as forensic pathologist, Fiona Kennedy. Last year viewers were introduced to Fiona when she worked on a case with the team, and ended up doing on a date with Danny Griffin, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst.

Tracy-Ann is the second EastEnders star to join the cast in a regular role for the final New Tricks, with fellow newcomer Larry Lamb also recently announced as UCOS’s latest recruit, Ted Case.

Tracy-Ann became a household name when she played murderous villain, Chrissie Watts, in EastEnders from 2004 to 2005. She’s since had roles in Doctor Who, Filth, Mistresses and Friday Night Dinner.

Speaking about her recruitment to the UCOS team, Tracy-Ann said: “I’m delighted to be a part of the final series for such a well-loved show – especially playing a feisty, smart woman like Fiona. The production has pulled out all the stops to make this a fantastic finale for the fans and the cast and crew are a joy to work with.”

Filming is currently underway for the 12th and last ever series of the long-running BBC detective drama. Not bad for a show that was originally intended as a one-off episode back in 2003.

Series 12 of New Tricks will broadcast in the autumn, kicking off with an explosive two-part story that will see the exit of UCOS’s last original member, Gerry Standing, played by Dennis Waterman.

Other guest stars for the final series include Lucy Benjamin, Kevin Bishop, Amy Nuttall, Bernard Higgins, David Schofield and Adjoa Andoh.

BBC’s Head of Independent Drama Polly Hill said: “It is a pleasure to add yet another actor of such high calibre to the talented cast of New Tricks for the final series and we can’t wait to see the new crew in action come autumn.”
