Comedienne Jennifer Saunders has admitted that 2010 was not her finest year – describing it as a “learning curve”.
The 52-year-old, who has been receiving treatment for breast cancer, revealed on her Radio 2 show on Saturday that her chemotherapy will finish in March – and said that she had set herself a series of challenges for the coming year.
“2010, not my best year,” said the Absolutely Fabulous star on the show, which she co-hosts with her long-term comedy partner Dawn French.
“Some misery, some uplifting moments, a bit of a learning curve and all that stuff.”
It was not revealed until last summer that Jennifer was suffering from breast cancer, as she kept news of her ill-health under wraps for many months.
However she remained silent about it until last week when she discussed the “lovely pert new bosoms” she had as a result of her treatment – and this week talked about the treatment itself.
“I’ve got a little port here where they push the chemicals in under the skin, a little tube that goes down into your vein and that comes out in March,” Jennifer said.
She added that she was looking forward to the coming year.
“These are things I would like to do more in 2011,” she admitted. “I would like to see more live football, I would like to drive my car in a skid pad, I would like to probably ride my horse a bit more just in the field with no shoes on, potter about in my garden, get on top of my geraniums.”
