Peter Kay and Sian Gibson are back! Here's why Car Share is a true modern comedy classic...
5 things we absolutely love about Car Share… which is back on Bank Holiday Monday!!
1. THE BANTER
The pair’s cheeky chat had the nation in stitches from the start. A perfect example… John: If me dad ever saw a hearse, he used to have to hold his collar until he saw a four-legged animal.
Kayleigh: How annoying.
John: You’re telling me. He was an undertaker. Got sod all done!
2. FOREVER FM
The fictional radio station pumping out cheesy ads, daft phone-ins and the old hits John and Kayleigh sing along to. And it’s going to play a big part in the new unscripted episode, Peter revealed: “I think it’s always good to try to do something original and I couldn’t think of any other narrative comedies that have ever made a fully-improvised episode. We just reacted to whatever came on the radio and went with it, good or bad.”
3. GUEST STARS
Cameo appearances including Reece ‘Stink Ray’ Shearsmith and Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill as drunken Smurf Elsie, who got a lift home with John and Kayleigh after the firm’s fancy dress party.
Hilarious signs and billboards including the Frying Nemo chippie and the Shaun Ryder Rehab Centre.
References are everywhere, even on the back of a Transit van: “No pies are left in this vehicle overnight.”
Car Share returns this Bank Holiday Monday on BBC1 at 10pm.
