Alesha Dixon has dismissed reports that she is set to abandon her role on Strictly Come Dancing to be a judge on The X Factor.
Rumours began circulating that she would take over from Cheryl Cole – who has quit the show to be a judge in the USA version – after branding the ITV1 show “more creative”.
However she has since confirmed she will be staying put. “Alesha is committed to Strictly Come Dancing,” her manager told the News Of The World.
The singer was one of several names who have been rumoured to replace Cheryl – including Lily Allen, Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford and N-Dubz star Tulisa.
According to the paper Tulisa is set to join the panel following Saturday’s news that Dannii Minogue would not be returning as a judge in the next series.
Dannii – who won the 2010 series as mentor to Matt Cardle – told the News Of The World a clash of schedules prevented her from returning to the series.
“I’m so disappointed that I can’t be a part of The X Factor this year. I’m going to miss the show and the amazing team who work so incredibly hard on it,” she said.
“During discussions for me to return it became clear that unfortunately, this year, the audition dates in the UK clash with my live shows of Australia’s Got Talent during June and July. For this reason I am unable to return.”
