With the X Factor final due to take place on Saturday evening, Alexandra is the bookies’ favourite to win – but she has JLS snapping at her heels.
The 20-year-old – Cheryl’s last remaining act in the contest – has odds of 8-13 with Ladbrokes, while boy band JLS are 9-4 to take the title.
Eoghan Quigg – Simon’s last remaining act in the contest – is the outsider at 9-2.
While Alexandra remains the favourite, however, the past week has seen a sudden surge of bets on JLS.
The Sun reports that the band have attracted more money on bets in the week leading up to the final than any other act in the show’s history.
“Punters are going crazy for JLS,” said Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg. “It’ll be a Saturday night shocker for the bookies if the lads pull it off. Even Leona Lewis wasn’t this popular.”
The final will see all three acts performing a duet with an established chart star.
The final begins at 7.10pm on ITV1, with the results show at 9.40pm.
