Anita Dobson has become the latest casualty of Strictly Come Dancing , after losing out to Holly Valance in the latest public vote.

The former EastEnders actress had already escaped elimination once, after finding herself in the bottom two against Audley Harrison two weeks ago.

However this time her luck ran out – although her partner Robin Windsor was not there to see it, as he had been unable to dance due to a foot infection leaving Anita to perform with Brendan Cole.

After the result had been revealed, however, Robin paid tribute to his dance partner via phone.

“You have been absolutely incredible and I’m sorry I couldn’t be there with you tonight,” he said. “It’s been a pleasure to work with you, you are one of the most enthusiastic hard-working people I’ve ever met and I’m going to miss you.”

Anita, meanwhile, added, “You made this the most enjoyable, wonderful, fun learning experience I could ever have imagined, thank you so much.”

The 62-year-old had received a mixed response for her cha cha cha with Brendan on Saturday night’s show, with Alesha Dixon saying the routine was “a little bit messy in places but cute and pleasant,” while Len Goodman added, “I thought you did very well,” and commended Brendan for “coming to the aid of a damsel in distress.”

Six celebrity dancers now remain in the competition, with Harry Judd, Alex Jones, Jason Donovan, Chelsee Healey and Robbie Savage all make it straight through to next week on the public vote.
