TV duo Ant and Dec have been banned from appearing on Jonathan Ross’ chat show in an apparent tit-for-tat move, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that ITV made the move after the BBC banned Barbara Windsor from guesting on the ITV show Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

The pair had been booked to appear on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross next weekend.

Ant and Dec are said to be “fuming” following the ban – which insiders believe could spell the end of all personalities from the two channels being allowed to appear on rival networks.

“Ant and Dec are livid,” a source told the paper. “They really wanted to go on, have a laugh, plug their new book, talk about their new show and the next series of
The pair had been booked to appear on Saturday Night Takeaway.

The insider added that Piers Morgan was also upset by Barbara’s ban. “The BBC know an ITV show with Barbara would hurt them in the ratings so they’ve acted in this petulant way.”

The move comes in the wake of the announcement that the BBC will screen the new series of Strictly Come Dancing at the same time as ITV is showing The X Factor, with just 35 minutes separating the two shows.

BBC Trust chairman Michael Lyons said of the news, “I can see the point that audiences might like to see those spaced.”
