The four remaining candidates in The Apprentice will face one final challenge on Sunday, ahead of Lord Sugar choosing who will become his new business partner.
Ricky Martin, Nick Holzherr, Jade Nash and Tom Gearing will battle it out for the chance to win a £250,000 investment from the businessman – but first they will have to face a series of gruelling interviews, including a grilling from his associate Margaret Mountford.
The quartet made it through after Adam Corbally was sent packing in Wednesday night’s show, after failing in an item which involved manufacturing and selling luxury goods.
He said he is now tipping Ricky, a recruitment manager, to win.
“He’s the best candidate in the process,” he said. “He’s clear and concise, he’s on the money, he’s a clever lad.”
However Ricky is set to face a tough time in the interview process, with frmer Young Entrepreneur of the Year Matthew Riley saying his application makes him “want to be sick”.
Magazine publisher Mike Soutar questions why he chooses to call himself Ricky Martin, like the chart-topping singer, instead of using his real name Richard – while executive Claude Littner also gives him a hard time.
“Quite clearly some of the statements you’ve made are completely ludicrous,” he says. “The problem is you’re an arrogant fool.”
Jade is also in for a rough ride in the interviews after her low grade in her business A-level is exposed, while Nick has his Internet scheme branded “irrelevant” and wine company expert Tom is branded a “daddy’s boy.”
The action kicks off on BBC1 at 8.30pm.
