The Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry has revealed she felt like ‘a commodity’ after appearing on the show.

The blonde’s private life was splashed across the headlines when she fell pregnant with fellow contestant Syed Ahmed’s baby – and later suffered a miscarriage.

“There were all these rumours flying around me, including one that Sir Alan was furious about the baby and had put me on gardening leave. That simply wasn’t true. But there was no escaping the fact that I was public property,” she says.

“I became a commodity and I wasn’t prepared for that. But it’s brought me a lot closer to my family.”

Michelle also insists that although she later parted company with Sir Alan Sugar and his company, it was totally amicable.

“I left on really good terms. I wasn’t paid off in any shape or form. There was no ill feeling. It was a very straightforward departure,” she says.

Meanwhile, she admits to being single again after a short relationship with a man ‘in the public eye’, about whom she remains tight-lipped.

She laughs: “He was never going to sell me out and I was never going to sell him out. And no, it’s not Alan Sugar!”

The new series of The Apprentice begins on BBC One on Tuesday, March 27.
